Canadian Dental Care Plan

Canadian Dental Care Plan

Affordable Dental Care for Canadians

If your household income is under $90,000 and you don't have private insurance, the Canadian Dental Care Plan can reduce your costs. Here's everything you need to know about eligibility, covered services, and how to apply.

How Much Will You Pay?

The CDCP covers a significant portion of basic treatments, but you may still have a co‑payment depending on your income bracket:

Adjusted Family Net Income Government Pays You Pay
Under $70,000 100% 0%
$70,000-$79,999 60% 40%
$80,000-$89,999 40% 60%
Note: If your dentist's fee exceeds the CDCP rate, you'll cover that gap.

Covered Services Under the CDCP

This program focuses on essential oral health. Covered treatments include:

  • Dental exams, X‑rays, and cleanings
  • Fillings and root canal therapy
  • Extractions and dentures

For advanced procedures, dentists can submit a pre‑approval request (available since November 1, 2024) for review by Health Canada.

Apply for the CDCP Today

There's no more staggered rollout—applications are open to all eligible Canadians right now. Visit the official federal portal, complete a short form, and wait for your welcome letter or card.

Renewal reminder: Coverage lasts one year. To keep benefits active, renew before June 30 each year.
